Founders

Mr. Jared Carman
Head of School
Mr. Carman is dedicated to helping students become leaders and doers. Over the last 25 years Mr. Carman has grown multiple learning technology companies, impacting millions of learners worldwide. Currently the owner and CEO of a Utah learning and testing company, Mr. Carman loves to invest in young people. Prior to founding Belmont, Mr. Carman served as Board Vice-Chair of the classical, Christian school he attended in his youth. Mr. and Mrs. Carman founded Belmont after feeling moved upon to create a classical, Christian school for their own daughters, and for families in Utah County. Mr. Carman holds an M.S. in Instructional Technology from Utah State University and a B.S. in Psychology from Brigham Young University.
Mrs. Denise Carman
Curriculum Director
Mrs. Carman delights in teaching, and in creating, for students, a feast of the best books. Over the last 15 years, she has guided curriculum choices and taught in home and private schools. While serving as Curriculum Chair for a 7-12 charter school, she worked closely with teachers and department heads to ensure that curriculum choices were mission-aligned. Mrs. Carman has visited classical, Christian schools across the country, and collaborates with like-minded administrators in Kentucky, Michigan, Indiana, Arizona, California, and Utah. Mrs. Carman is an award-winning French teacher. Having lived in France and Switzerland, she shares her love of French with her students. Mrs. Carman holds a B.A. in French from Brigham Young University. Her greatest joys are her own five children.

Mrs. Shelli Boynton
Grades 3-5 Bible Study, Math, History, Geography, Penmanship,
Science, Latin; Grades 6-12 Bells Choir
Mrs. Boynton is an accomplished educator with 20 years of homeschool teaching experience. She earned a B.A. in English from Brigham Young University. She minored in music, and served as a Board Advisory Committee Member for the Intermountain Suzuki String Institute and performing as a bell ringer with Bells on Temple Square. Mrs. Boynton is an avid lover of literature, maintaining an extensive personal library which she generously shares with Belmont faculty and students.
Mrs. Holly Brinkle
Grades 3-5 Music, PE, Art
Mrs. Brinkle loves to learn, uncovering truths through the process of discovery and the exercise of curiosity. She seeks to challenge her students to think deeply, guiding them in expressing themselves effectively and respectfully. One of her favorite authors, Louisa May Alcott, inspires her with a glimpse of education and training of children in the book Little Women. Mrs. Brinkle is a world-class organist, and has performed in such locations as Westminster Abbey, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and the Tower of London Chapel. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Organ Performance and Pedagogy from Brigham Young University. After graduation, she trained at the Intermuse Kodaly Academy International Academy at Brigham Young University.
Miss Alyssa Carman
Chinese I & II
Miss Carman happily spreads an infectious love of Asian languages and culture. An award-winning student in high school, Miss Carman was awarded the BYU StarTalk Debra Wells Chinese Excellence Award, and was Utah Sterling Scholar Runner-up for World Languages. After living abroad for 18 months in Seoul, South Korea, Miss Carman returned to the US and founded Woori English, an international online tutoring business, where she focuses on relevance and context in language learning. On scholarship at Brigham Young University, Miss Carman holds a 3.95 GPA as she completes her B.A. in Asian Studies (class of 2021).

Mrs. Erin Holbrook
Grades 3-5 Math
Mrs. Holbrook delights in seeing each student succeed. Whether helping a student understand the “why” of a new concept, or celebrating a student’s new personal speed record on multiplication facts, Mrs. Holbrook is happiest when her students experience the satisfaction and joy of learning. Over the last 8 years Mrs. Holbrook has taught grammar school students math, reading, and science. She holds a BS in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University, and continues to sharpen her teaching skills—most recently by attending the annual Classical Latin School Association Teacher Conference.
Mrs. Tracy Jorgensen
Geometry
Mrs. Jorgensen loves students and has a contagious enthusiasm for math. At the college level, Mrs. Jorgensen has taught students in College Algebra, Business Calculus, and Quantitative Reasoning with Integrated Algebra. At the Junior High and High School levels, she has taught students in PreAlgebra, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus. With a BS in Mathematics from Brigham Young University, Mrs. Jorgensen regularly puts her math expertise to good use, as a computer programmer, teacher, and mother.
Mrs. Julie Morris
English, History, Latin III
Mrs. Morris loves helping students improve their minds and hearts. Well-grounded in classical, Christian education, Mrs. Morris earned her M.A. in Philosophy from Holy Apostles College and Seminary, did undergraduate work in Theology at Franciscan University, and received B.S. degrees in Economics and Accounting from the University of Kentucky. At the high school and college levels she has taught courses in Composition, English Grammar, Latin, Literature, Logic, Math, and Computers. Prior to joining Belmont, Mrs. Morris served as Director of Curriculum at a Immaculata Classical Academy in Louisville, KY. When she is not immersed in good books, she can be found helping support the family bungee jumping business or enjoying the beautiful Utah outdoors.
Dr. Kent Pollock
Anatomy & Physiology
Dr. Pollock has been involved in education for most of his life. As a chiropractor in California for 30 years, Dr. Pollock was always learning, and teaching others the joy of learning. Now residing in Utah, Dr. Pollock continues his work as a licensed chiropractor, and as a science, literature, and human anatomy teacher. Dr. Pollock received his BS in Zoology from BYU and his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles. He is a US Army veteran and served in Vietnam. He is married to Rosemary Pollock, is the father of 8 children and grandfather of 27. He is thrilled to teach at Belmont and to be a part of a "grand adventure" in learning.  
Mr. Sydney Stonehocker
Math & Science, Facility Improvement
Mr. Stonehocker brings a wealth of experience to the classroom. A USAF/NWS veteran who served in Desert Storm, he has taught students grades 6-12 in Algebra, Geometry, Robotics, Science, and other subjects, in public, charter, and private settings. Mr. Stonehocker knows the value of preparation—he has run 7 marathons, and holds a 4:42 for the mile run. Mr. Stonehocker is a licensed General Contractor and a certified piano technician. He holds a Masters of Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Brigham Young University.
Mrs. Cortney Wright
AP English Language & Composition, U.S. History, Rhetoric,
Grades 3-5 English Language, Composition, Literature
French I & II
Mrs. Wright is an accomplished teacher and brings out the best in each student. She readily shares her love of literature, poetry, and studying how language works—she loves to learn! After completing a study abroad at the University of Neuchatel in Switzerland, Mrs. Wright received her BA in English Literature with a French minor from the University of Utah. She taught French, Language Arts, and Literature at a classical, Christian school for five years, and has tutored students in English and French, and ESL. Mrs. Wright is  an experienced writer, both in writing copy and blogs. When she is not learning or teaching, she loves to be with her family and perform with Handbells on Temple Square, where she has played for 15 years. 
Mr.Justin Zufelt
Physical Education
Mr. Zufelt is an author, trainer, and entrepreneur, and loves teaching youth. As an officer in the Utah Army National Guard, he has trained in such diverse skills as SCUBA diving, phlebotomy, SWAT, Critical Incident, and First Responder. He has worked as a park ranger, a police officer and for the Federal Aviation Administration. Mr. Zufelt holds a BA in Outdoor Parks & Tourism from Southern Utah University, and is working on his MA in Family Counseling & Divinity from Amridge University, thereafter to become a chaplain in the US Army National Guard.
Graham Carman
Information Systems, Web Development
Mr. Carman leverages technology to drive growth and streamline workflow. At Belmont, he created the school's technology backbone, including applications that drive admissions, learning management, e-commerce, and the Belmont Web site. Now working for a top-tier consulting company, Mr. Carman continues to assist Belmont in maintaining the technology. Prior to working for Belmont, Mr. Carman served as a full-stack developer at Brigham Young University. He currently serves as the Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI) BYU chapter president at BYU, where he is completing his B.S. in Information Systems and is preparing for graduate school.
