Jesus entered Jerusalem riding a small donkey. Those who knew Him waved palm leaves and shouted, “Hosannah!”. They said, “This is Jesus”. On the first Easter, people found ways to celebrate Jesus. Could you?
Not many days later, Jesus went to a quiet garden to pray. Judas showed the soldiers where He was. They beat Him and spit upon Him.
They made Him carry the cross when He was so tired.
Simon took the cross and carried it for Jesus. He couldn’t take away the pain but he could carry the cross so Jesus didn’t have to walk alone.
On the first Easter, Simon performed an act of goodness in a moment of great need. Could you?
After Jesus died, Joseph and Nicodemus tenderly wrapped His body with precious myrrh oil and linen cloth. Then they put Him in the tomb in a beautiful garden. On the first Easter, Joseph and Nicodemus gave gifts of sacrifice. Could you?
Mary Magdalene stood outside the empty garden tomb, crying. It had been three days and she was filled with worry. She saw a man standing near her.
“Why are you crying?” He asked. “Who are you looking for?” Then he whispered her name. “Mary”. At that instant she knew. It was Jesus. Her heart overflowed with hope and happiness.
Mary ran to the Apostles to share her joyful news. “I have seen the Lord!” On the first Easter, Mary shared her witness that Jesus had risen. Could you?
For eight days Thomas waited. Jesus had come to visit the Apostles after His Resurrection, but Thomas hadn’t been there. He had missed it. When the others told Thomas they had seen Jesus, he felt forgotten.
Then Jesus came. Reaching out, Jesus asked Thomas to touch the prints of the nails in His hands, and believe. And Thomas did.
On the first Easter, Thomas believed. Could you?
When that Holy Week was over, Jesus led those that loved Him to a quiet place. He lifted up His hands and blessed them. Then He was carried up to heaven.
The people felt hope in their hearts. They returned home with great joy. On the first Easter, all those who loved Him rejoiced! Could you?
